Food Matters documentary by GCNM Graduates

"We are graduates from the GCNM Nutritional Consultant course. Prior to enrolling, we thoroughly researched the internet for a college of natural medicine that was to provide us with solid and independently researched information. The GCNM NC course was exactly that and the quality of their curriculum and student support exceeded our expectations.

We were so inspired and impressed with the content of the course that we immediately started applying this information to our own lives. We were astonished that such life-transforming information was not more widely known and practiced. During our studies we decided on focusing on how to share this knowledge with people around the world, so that billions could powerfully transform and improve their lives. We’ve always believed that with access to solid information, people will invariably make good choices for their health.

We thus decided to film a documentary on nutrition and curing disease naturally. Since graduating in May 2007 we headed off around the globe interviewing many of the authors and teachers we studied while undergoing the GCNM NC course. We now have the trailer to our film Food Matters online and the feature film will be available soon.

Without the knowledge we aquired while studying the NC course we would have not been able to undertake such a venture and thank the team at GCNM for their wonderful support."

"I have definitely made the correct choice!"

"I am a personal trainer and have a background in massage therapy and nutrition. My goal is to open a wellness center in the next three years.

Before signing up for the Nutritional Consultant program with GCNM, I checked out several other programs, then I contacted many different organizations, and emailed/spoke to many students and practitioners from the various schools. I finally narrowed my search down to two schools. I called both schools and spoke to a few people. Everyone at GCNM seemed welcoming, had good energy, and was very helpful. It is important to know what you want in a distance program. I wanted: good information that was well rounded, excellent contact with the instructors in a timely manner, and I wanted a degree and/or certification from a reputable school that would hold its value.

What I have received from GCNM has been nothing short of amazing and I have only just begun. The books cover a wide variety of subjects and I have learned so much already…

and so have those around me. The information is not too overwhelming, being that it is a distance-learning program – but the best thing is – if you have any questions all you need to do is email or call and you will have a response in no time. The staff is so eager to help you learn. You definitely are not alone on this journey, unless you choose to be. In fact, GCNM encourages you to participate in the forums, which are easy to use and there is a wealth of information in there. Every day I am eager to open my books and study. I know I will learn something new.

I just began the nutrition program and have realized that the MH/HHP programs are definitely worth the investment so I've become a student of all three.
I have definitely made the correct choice!"

"I immediately saw the value of the courses
being offered by GCNM"

"I am Andhrika Kondeti. I am one of the many successful graduates of the Global College of Natural Medicine. I have been practicing Ayurveda for the past 10 years in India. Most of my practice is focused on Women’s Health and Beauty Care. I also work online at satmedica.com with a team of experts in Herbal Medicine, Tribal Medicine, Homeopathy and Aesthetics. I found GCNM during a thorough search on the internet for a college of natural medicine that I felt would give me a brilliant education. I immediately saw the value of the courses being offered by GCNM. I enrolled in the Nutritional Consultant (NC) program, as I believed that better knowledge of nutrition and dietary supplements would enhance my practice in Ayurveda. As a result of completing the NC program, my expertise and knowledge on managing various conditions (like Obesity, Heart Disease, Cancer, etc.) through nutrition and dietary supplements has been significantly enhanced. The NC program greatly boosted my confidence to effectively communicate with my clients regarding healthy meal plans and exercises that will work well alongside Ayurvedic supplements.

GCNM courses are quite interesting, informative and affordable. It is very convenient to study at my own pace. The subjects covered are broad in regard to the many aspects of Holistic Health and give a good overview. The best part of the program is the student support that consists of direct interaction with expert faculty who guide in every aspect of the program; they are just a click away. Another significant part of the course is the online Student Forum where we can discuss various subjects on Holistic Health with other students and faculty around the clock. Presently, I am enrolled in the Master Herbalist program and I am very excited to study medicinal herbs from the different parts of the world.

I would like to thank the GCNM faculty and staff for their words of encouragement throughout the program. I look forward to my future studies with GCNM and recommend this school to everyone."

"The support I received from the GCNM administration and community truly made this experience stand out."

"My formal education always came from classrooms. I had never taken an online program before. At first I found difficulty in establishing a regular routine and online presence. However, the support I received from the GCNM administration and community truly made this experience stand out above most. The attention and care I received from GCNM allowed me to endure any blocks that came up within my own process. Having just mailed in my grading materials, I feel such a sense of accomplishment and joy. This feeling of empowerment is something I wish on everyone."

"Learning is fun on this program!"

"I knew I was going to like my experience studying with GCNM from the very start. When I e-mailed with my first inquiry, I received an immediate and helpful response. Along with the reasonable price, this was a good first impression! Then, upon speaking with some GCNM staff on the telephone, I knew that this was the school I wanted to study with. Helpful and friendly, they made me feel welcome, while answering all of my questions with their vast knowledge . Since having started, the program has been exceeding my expectations. The course material is clear, concise, and the accompanying books and DVDs are giving me what I believe is a complete understanding of holistic health. Learning is fun on this program! All I can say is that I am so pleased to have chosen GCNM!"

"All the books and reference materials look amazing!"

"I feel so blessed to have found this school - if you will indulge me a lengthy email I would like to share this with you...

I have worked in the music industry for almost 19 years but I am ready for a change - I had been praying for direction for my life for a while and I was about to follow an old boss into the world of digital music, but after much thought I realized, "I don't care about this at all." So I did a search on Yahoo for "holistic" and among other things, I found GCNM. It jumped out at me and after finding the HHP program and reading all over the website, I felt like I received the answer to my prayer! All the subjects in the curriculum are either topics I have been interested in and researched on my own for the last 20 years or topics I am interested in learning about.

When I received all my course materials, I felt like I had opened a treasure chest - all the books and reference materials look amazing!

My friends and co-workers know that I love to learn about healing and holistic treatments and they often come to me for advice which I LOVE! I always thought "I wish I could do this for a living" - and now I can!
When I mentioned to my chiropractor (who has a holistic practice) that I was starting this course, without missing a beat he said "Oh we'll give you an office here when you're ready - I'd love to see you every day!"
Just another sign to me that I truly am being lead on the right path for my life!

I am so excited to focus all my free time on school - I feel like a sponge and want to absorb every bit of information that I can!

But I also have to practice what I preach - having Lupus, I need to make sure I take care of myself and get enough rest and make sure I am balanced in every area of my life. My job is very demanding; I try to spend time with my elderly mother - she lost the sight in one eye due to a freak accident a few years ago so I need to be available to her; and I primarily only see my husband on the weekends so that is our golden time (this last weekend I had my nose in my Module 1 book so I have to take study breaks to focus my attention on him!) And then I have to find time for exercise, mediation and eating and sleeping....I don't know how people with kids do it!

I'm sorry to be so long-winded - I am just so happy to have found this school and from the correspondence I have had with you and several other instructors and reading the posts and forum topics, this seems like such an amazing place that has attracted equally amazing, intelligent, compassionate, intuitive, loving, gifted people.

I am happy and proud to be a student with GCNM and I hope to visit the school at some time also and meet some of you wonderful people in person. Thank you for your time - I look forward to my education and my new career! Have a great day!"

"As a graduate, I am finding the alumni forum
and on-line library and resource center invaluable
as I move forward with my practice."

"As far back as I can remember, I have educated myself on the countless benefits of embracing the laws of natural hygiene.

Through many health challenges, which would have left me considerably less functional and therefore dependent on others had I not been an active participant in my health care and well-being, I have taken a naturalistic, intrinsic and holistic approach to life which has blessed me with the ability to enjoy life to the fullest extent. My positive results experienced through the application of natural health has fueled my passion for knowledge in the fascinating and rewarding field of natural health and wellness and inspires me to continue my formal education towards a degree in natural medicine. Although, due to health challenges, completing the course had taken me a bit longer than I had originally anticipated, the knowledge will offer a lifetime of enhanced well-being for myself, spouse and loved ones as we continue to embrace and benefit from the application of holistic health practices. Sharing the knowledge with clients and educating them on how to enhance the quality of their lives is an extremely rewarding experience.

Shortly after completing the course I was in a serious car accident that inflicted injuries requiring 25 plus hours per week in rehabilitation. I am thankful for the wisdom I have acquired through my thirst for knowledge and the Global College of Natural Medicine Nutritional Consultant Course.

Applying such a balanced and broad base of knowledge including proper nutrition, therapeutic supplementation and alternative healing methods in conjunction with allopathic recommendations as well as the awareness of  appropriate complementary and alternative therapies is enhancing my recovery and assisting in limiting my discomfort without the negative health implications of pharmaceuticals. My Dr. knows of my natural approach to health and attributes my positive response to treatment, at this early stage of recovery, compared to others in a similar situation, to my daily commitment to and application of natural medicine. I look forward to my educational journey with Global College on Natural Medicine. Their affordable tuition fees, accredited courses, student forum, on-line library and resource center and personal attention to my question or concerns in such a timely manner surpassed my expectations.

As a graduate, I am finding the alumni forum and on-line library and resource center invaluable as I move forward with my practice.
Thank you Global College for making this learning experience available in such a wonderful and enlightening format. All the best,"

"I posted a question to a professor and received
an answer within minutes!"

"Throughout my life everyone around me always pursued traditional medicine, never seeking alternatives. I was raised to believe that the allopathic Dr. was the know all and see all regarding any health issue. For me, especially as a young woman, I felt differently, not sure why or what was the difference was, I just felt like there was more. With each visit to the “Dr” I would leave with a prescription, and I always had a feeling that I had not been fully heard. My brother in law is an allopathic physician and the gifts and benefits he receives from his pharmaceutical sales people to prescribe their medicine are unbelievable! An eye opener for me! Over time I started seeking out alternative remedies for myself. I participated in an apprentice program at a working organic herbal farm and enjoyed that experience completely! I brought to my home and growing family a source for healthy living and finally other options! As a grown woman moving into my forties I have the opportunity to walk a new path. I visited my old college and enrolled myself in a traditional nursing program. I left the enrollment office happy but with a huge knot in my stomach. After a couple of days thinking about things I realized the happiness was from the knowing that I would be working with people regarding their health.

The knot in my stomach was coming from the knowing, without admitting it to me; that the traditional nursing program was not for me. I then began the incredibly difficult process of searching for a college that had a Holistic Health Program. There are no such creatures in my neck of the woods. One college offers a couple of nutrition classes but that is it, there are certificate programs that are 8 hours long and that is ridiculous! How can you learn the true depth and meaning of Holistic Health in 8 hours! Discouraged I turned to the internet for help. I found GCNM very quickly and was drawn to their great website and their course offerings. I put them in my favorite list and continued to search for other options. After reviewing all the options, I kept going back to GCNM’s website. I sent for their catalog, again I was very impressed. I then called them and was met with friendly and helpful people. I had a million questions and they were answered with patience and great information which was very helpful. After again reviewing all my options I enrolled in all three of GCNM’s courses! The materials arrived promptly and are wonderful! There is a lot of work to be done, the courses are not quick and easy fixes, they are very detailed and comprehensive, and they are going to be work, which I will take on with joy! I joined the student forum and am absolutely amazed at the wealth of information from and connectivity with other GCNM students and teachers. I posted a question to a professor and received an answer within minutes! Amazing! There are real people, there to help just as they say! I look forward to this journey.

My family is excited for me, still apprehensive but excited because the knot in my stomach is gone and the smile of joy and happiness on my face is from me FINALLY reaching for what lives true and deep!  The art of helping people regarding their health issues in the most natural and effective process known, but forgotten, to (wo)man! Thank you GCNM for making this possible! Your tuition pricing and your courses are a perfect fit. I am able to study while being at home raising my family! How much better can it be! Thank you again for making this possible, I look forward to learning from the best and I look forward to a very successful career in Holistic Health and will go out there with confidence because of the extensive training I will have under my belt!
Sincerely,"

"So many amazingly intelligent people attend this school"

"I love the Global College of Natural Medicine! After going to a state college right out of high school, I became highly skeptical of our education system. This made me sad, because I love learning, but I hated my college! I lived half an hour away from my school, and it was hard to motivate myself to waste the gas and time it took to get there, just to be around underpaid teachers and students that mostly didn't care about what they were learning.

The whole time I was there, I was wishing I could learn in my own home, at my own pace, and I eventually just stopped going to my classes...

GCNM has given me a new chance at an education. The Global College of Natural Medicine is the absolute perfect match for people like me, who crave a quality and meaningful education, but do not enjoy the standard college "experience". When I received my materials, I was AMAZED! The thorough, high quality text books and highly interesting and informative study guides brought the biggest smile to my face... I'm going to be able to help people. I will be able to help my friends and family keep a balanced state of health, and become less reliant on doctors visits, and more reliant on natural mind, body, and spiritual healing. And the online forums are so much fun! So many amazingly intelligent people attend this school. My favorite forum is the one on animal health, I have two dogs of my own, and I love learning how similar natural canine healing is to natural human healing. This school is everything I've ever wanted and more! Anyone with any interest in natural medicine should give one (or two or three!) of these courses a try, it will probably be the best choice you'll ever make!"

"It is an understatement, to say that the growth of my business would not have been possible had I not enrolled with the Global College of Natural Medicine"

"My husband and I retired to Costa Rica late in 2003. Soon after we arrived, I realized that there were no herbal tinctures in this country, only pills.  I then found a wonderful organic herb farm among the coffee plantations in the mountains near where we live.  I bought a kilo of Echinacea purpurea and a big bottle of 190 proof alcohol from a friend of a friend who had a still. That was almost three years ago. Today, my company, Natural Herbal Tinctures (www.naturalherbaltinctures.com) is developing into a full time business.  The changes since I made my initial batch of Echinacea tincture in Santa Fe, NM to my business now in Costa Rica are nothing short of amazing. It is an understatement, to say that the growth of my business would not have been possible had I not enrolled with the Global College of Natural Medicine.

The professionalism, exceptional knowledge, constant support, patience and tireless efforts from student support, the faculty (my unending questions regarding the circumnavigation of the forum), Tara in admissions who went above and beyond what she needed to do and the personal support from Dr. Lynn Hardy, GCNM Director have collectively contributed to my success.

Even after years of tincturing, without Global College of Natural Medicine, I would not be as confidant as I am in my knowledge of herbal medicine nor would I feel comfortable having the enormous opportunity ahead of me to educate and introduce (both in English and Spanish!) my herbal tinctures to so many people.

Natural Herbal Tinctures currently has almost sixty individual Chinese, Western and Ayurvedic herbs and I have graduated to a more sophisticated blend of menstruum! I am currently working with acupuncturists, naturopaths, mid-wives, body workers and holistic spa clientele, providing single herbal tinctures and personal blends for everything from asthma to insomnia. Imagine the amazement I feel, when I walk into a local pharmacy or macrobiotica and see Natural Herbal Tinctures on the shelf!
My sincere thanks to everyone at the Global College of Natural Medicine, for the past year of learning and in advance for the months ahead as I continue my studies as a Holistic Health Practitioner."

"I feel like I could actually sit in front of someone
and give substantial advice!"

"I am half way through the Nutrition consultant program and love every moment of it. I keep getting excited with every new chapter that unfolds. This program is truly great. It manages to give the most valuable information, in a very clear and easy lo learn form. I love that I can study at my own pace, yet with the student forum do not feel that I am on my own. The program teaches everything that is essential, from terms, supplements, food and general lifestyle. I feel like I could actually sit in front of someone and give substantial advice!

I am a Holistic Chef, and an artist and have studied many nutrition and healing methods before, yet still feel that the GCNM has managed to summarize, clarify and make all this great info ready to be used in an easy and comprehensive way. It is great to have the understanding of the body, inside and out. (And as an artist and photographer am happy to know of so many ways not only to feel good but also look great!).

I would recommend this program to anyone who values living well. This is a gift for life, for you and anyone you care and love. I hope one day a short version of this would be taught in schools.I am grateful for this opportunity, and am looking forward to help make this world a healthier and more beautiful place!"

"This program is the best you can find anywhere"

"I graduated! I am now an NC graduate of GCNM! This program is the best you can find anywhere. I have learned about the human body and what it needs and doesn't need and can now apply that knowledge to my friends and family. I have become a strict guide to my family more then they would like, when they make "bad" choices, I am there to enforce better ones. I am looking forward to working in the nutritional field to help people be healthier in this unhealthy world. The program is exciting and fun, I enjoyed talking in the forum with fellow students and getting help a quick email away. As you can see in the picture, I have applied the education in my own life and look at my skin! I look and feel healthy! Thank you!"

"The knowledge that I have gained
has helped my family immensely"

"I have enjoyed all of my studies through GCNM. I have taken the Nutritional Consultant course and the Holistic Practitioner course.
I have appreciated the extra educational input from staff members. Information that I hadn't read about in books. The knowledge that I have gained has helped my family immensely. I am considered by some peers to be the "Health Geek", but they are now coming to me for counsel and healthier living information. My plans are to continue to study and to incorporate what I have learned into  my business as a licensed Clinical Esthetician. I would recommend GCNM programs to anybody who cares about their health, the health of their family, that of others, and about the state of the world around us."

"All the materials are so rich in detail and easy to comprehend"

“I am enjoying my Holistic Health Practitioner Program better than any other school course I have taken in the past where teachers would not allow me to take tests because I was 10 minutes late and frown upon me for not wearing my uniform. I love the independence Global College of Natural Medicine offers. All the materials are so rich in detail and easy to comprehend. I had thought anatomy was boring until I began studying and really began to notice how important it is to understand the way our bodies function and act upon each part to survive.

I wish I would have known about the Global College of Natural Medicine earlier as I am so eager to begin my private practice as a Holistic Health Practitioner!!! Thank You Global College of Natural Medicine”.

"Both of us feel we have found a home
in wellness education at GCNM"

“Tom and I have been interested in nutrition as it relates to health for some time. “You are what you eat” is a phrase we have heard for many years. This is so true! Health and wellness is definitely based on your diet, as is the prevention of disease. For this reason, we began reading everything we could get our hands on regarding diet and nutrition and the supplementation of vitamins, minerals and herbs. Through our research we discovered GCNM and that became the most important day of our lives. For now, not only can we have better health through the knowledge that we are receiving, we can give this knowledge to others so that they may also have long and healthy lives.

While I am a student of the Nutritional Consultant program, Tom has signed up for all three programs, Nutritional Consultant, Master Herbalist, and Holistic Health Practitioner. Tom also looks forward to future courses that GCNM may offer. The staff at GCNM have been so helpful and caring, we feel we are part of their family and we know we have made the right decision by choosing GCNM as our college. Both of us feel we have found a home in wellness education at GCNM.

Even though our lives are very busy with church activities, dance classes, full time jobs, and planning for our wedding on Valentines Day this year, we are always eager to spend time studying to further our education because the material is informative and interesting. We look forward to the day we graduate from GCNM because we will use this knowledge to start a new career together in the health and wellness industry.”

"I researched nutritional colleges for several months to find
the right fit for me"

"I am a new student of the Nutritional Consultant program and I love it! I was so excited to get started when I received my package on December 20, 2005 that I listened to Dr. Weil’s tapes over the holidays, listening several times to really digest all the wonderful information he has to offer.

I work part-time in a nutrition store as a second job and after finishing Dr. Weil’s tapes, I was assisting customers on a more educational level, and that is very rewarding, and fun. I have been a health and fitness enthusiast ever since my father died of heart attack many years ago. My mother is also a health guru and actually inspired me at that time.

I researched nutritional colleges for several months to find the right fit for me. I finally chose Global College of Natural Medicine first and foremost because the website is very inviting and user friendly. I also called and spoke to a staff member with questions and they were very helpful and friendly. I even received a phone call from the instructor to discuss the program(s). I was also amazed of how the programs were so affordable.

I thank the staff and faculty for their support. The Student Forum is ideal for information and participation. Keep up the good work! I am looking forward to continuing the program, and then I will pursue additional educational endeavors, possibly beginning with the Holistic Health Practitioner program.
Thank you.
Sincerely"

"I was so impressed... I completed the program within 6 months"

“My name is Cherie Hanks and I proudly endorse the Global College of Natural Medicine programs. I was diagnosed with complex seizure disorder. For the past 24 years I have had seizures for two weeks out of every month. The medical profession gave me three options. 1. I could take synthetic anti-seizure medication. I went this route and become more ill then I was before the medication. The seizures were constant. Found out after the fact that I was allergic to anything synthetic. Next option: I could have brain surgery. My chances on surgery were quite grim. I might be better, no guarantee that I would ever be seizure free, but I had a better chance of becoming much worse. So surgery was out. My third option was just to continue living the way I was. These three options were not acceptable to me. Such began my quest for better health.

I began to study everything I could on health and nutrition. I started by changing my diet and lifestyle. I noticed an immediate change. I realized more people could benefit from what I know so I began pursuit to become a nutritional consultant.

The first program I tried I was highly disappointed in and did not feel that the information was valid. Then I ran across GCNM and began their nutritional consultant program. I was so impressed with the abundance of information I was acquiring. I completed the program within 6 months. I believe I now have the knowledge and tools to better serve my clientele. I also teach health and nutrition at the middle school where I work. I am so awed by the nutritional consultant program, I am continuing my education with the Holistic Health Practitioner Program and the Master Herbalist Program. Thanks GCNM.”

"I finished reading the first two modules within a few weeks,
simply out of pleasure"

"My testimonial for the Global College of Natural Medicine’s Nutrition Consultant training program. During the past year, my children, ages then were 11,9,7, and 1, and I have dealt with some major changes in our lives. My husband, their dad, battled with cancer for nearly three years. We watched his body and his health slowly disintegrate until he passed away in January 2004. The first few months are a total blur as to how we adjusted to our life without him. As the mom,

I had to be strong and teach my children his death is a natural part of life. Although I held this expectation for myself, my own health seemed to be suffering in a downward spiral. My job, being a principal of a successful charter school, left me exhausted and sometimes completely stressed out by the end of a day as I was always trying to meet the needs of the staff, students, and parents needs as well as the organizational demands. Raising children as a newly single mom while family was over 2,500 miles away across the country (we had moved there for my husband’s job). I tried to make sure my children didn’t miss one gymnastics training or competitive meet (the three oldest were each on a different competitive team with a separate schedule with up to 20 hours per week of workout). I made sure they didn’t miss one social event with their friends, that dinner was always on the table, the house was clean, clothes were clean, and the landscaping looked nice for the neighbors to see. I had begun trying to build my own social life and began dating again. I was running around trying to make everything perfect all of the time. From the outside, our home and family looked like something from June Cleaver’s neighborhood.

Believe it or not, sleeping became nearly impossible although all I wanted to do was sleep. I began with chest pains during stressful times at work and knew this wasn’t a good sign. Only 35 years old and was having chest pains! The doctors told me I had a mitral valve prolapse, although they didn’t understand the chest pains.

My weight had been higher than ever before and I had this lovely midsection roll of fat that is commonly caused by excess cortisol. I also would have a bowel movement every three to five days. I was tired, sluggish, bloated, uncomfortable, and sometimes in pain.

I had months enrolling in a yoga teacher certification course (from a teacher I had practiced with during the past five years). I knew yoga always helped me with stress management. As death often forces one to evaluate our own path, I was considering a change from my career in public school education to incorporate more holistic health and wellness. Of course my personal and familial health was on the front burner of concern. I needed peace in my life!  After beginning yoga teaching classes, I decided I wanted to learn in more areas that would compliment my yoga knowledge with the whole person. I had always contemplated studying nutrition as it personally interested me, but thought I was glued to my current career.

After talking with girlfriends (thank god for them), I decided I was going to do it! I found the Global College of Natural Medicine online while searching for Nutrition Consulting and Holistic Health. I loved the idea of studying online in my own time and the financial plan available suited my budget. I immediately applied and was accepted within a few hours. My package came in the mail within a few days (you never want to wait too long when you are starting something you are excited about).
As I read the course materials, I found it so interesting I couldn’t stop reading! I finished reading the first two modules within a few weeks, simply out of pleasure. I wanted to know all I could about the human body and health. I wanted so desperately to improve my own! I couldn’t believe amazing facts I was learning in the nutrition consultation program about the human body, such as “the average person has between 10-25 lbs. of dried fecal matter inside their colon.”

I couldn’t believe this! I knew I had to start evaluating my total body health and wellness! I had all of the signs of toxicity, parasites, and had consumed way too many artificial ingredients over my lifetime! Oh my goodness, I realized “what am I doing to my children? I have to stop this cycle. We need to be healthy and make responsible choices to take care of our bodies. It is my job to protect them and here I am allowing them to eat processed macaroni and cheese, junk food, hot dogs, regular meat. I was sick to my stomach!”

I began converting my family to organic foods. I felt great grocery shopping since I was making choices I could be proud of for my family. In doing so I was also supporting the organic food movement. I felt a part of something big, something important. As an added bonus, everyone shopping in the organic grocery stores are actually nice. People smile at each other, say excuse me, and the energy is calm and positive. I can enjoy shopping. I walk into my local health food store and breath a sign of relief that no matter how busy life is outside the building I have a few moments of peace and rejuvenation where everyone has the same goals: health and wellness.

I graduate in May 2005 with my Yoga Teacher training and plan to graduate from the Nutrition Consultant program this summer. I have lost around 12 pounds to date (my stomach has actually gotten flatter). I have more energy and feel proud of the choices for myself and my family. I run each day 2 miles with students and staff and teach yoga to several classes at my school, practice yoga each day at home (alone and with my family), and am currently completely a yoga picture book for preteens.
I am learning about health education in our state (Nevada is currently listed as 48th) and working with folks to develop a program of health awareness for our children. I love being in complete control of my life, making healthy choices for my children and myself. And on a personal note, I am now engaged!
My experience with the Global College of Natural Medicine has been part of a life-changing quest! Thank you so much!"

"Well organized and easy to understand"

“I received the study materials yesterday, listened to the first cassette and reviewed a few of the books. I’m so happy with how well organized and easy to understand the program is. It’s simple and at the same time very informative. Dr. Weil’s first cassette has me very excited to complete this course. He is so matter of fact, down to earth and spiritual without being too flighty. I researched several schools till I found this one through a search on yahoo.com. Thank you again. It’s a reasonable price for such a great course."

"I plan to put my new found wisdom to good use"

“I’ve been interested in herbs and nutrition for many years but never had the time to receive the proper training. I’ve done a lot of reading and experimenting on my own with natural remedies and tried my best to live a wholesome and healthy life. (You probably wouldn’t guess that I have a grandson who’s almost eight. Living healthy is the best remedy against old age!) When I signed up with GCNM I didn’t expect to learn a lot of new things but I was so wrong! The course was full of so much incredible and useful information. As soon as my box arrived I started studying and I haven’t been able to stop since. It’s almost addictive. I don’t care about TV or going shopping, I just want to soak up all this knowledge. I wish so much I had known about all these things when my parents were still alive. Maybe I could have helped them or perhaps spared them from some of the agony they endured through the “marvels” of modern medicine. I know it’s never too late and I plan to put my new found wisdom to good use.”

"The curriculum is very complete and easy to follow"

"I started the Nutritional Consultant Course a few months ago and I am so pleased with the program. The curriculum is very complete and easy to follow. I am an educator and curriculum developer myself, so I appreciate a well organized program. I am very happy with the selection of course materials and the variety of medium, including books, pamphlets, binder materials, videos, audiocassettes, and even an anatomy coloring book. I love to color! But most importantly, even though I have studied nutritional and health in general for over 20 years, I am learning so much from this program. I really liked starting the course with Dr. Weil's eight audiocassette program because it gave me a good overview of the course. I appreciate the fact that Dr. Weil has a medical background and yet is very informed about alternative approaches to preventive medicine. I think he has a very balanced approached to health and nutrition and I really appreciate that. I look forward to completing this program and utilizing the knowledge I am gaining to help others become more self-reliant and educated about their own health. Thank you for making this course available to people like myself with no medical background."

"The way to overcome your fears is to conquer them by education"

"I received my Nutritional Consultant course the same day I had a doctor appointment. My MD had prescribed chemical prescriptions for my ailments. That evening I began listening to the audio cassettes by Dr. Andrew Weil and the course of my health wass changed forever. The tapes were logical and in-depth and pointed out that my health could be improved through a whole health natural method. Over the next several weeks I studied my way through Module One and started working in the Anatomy Coloring Book. A Coloring Book! What a concept--I learned so much from this and it was fun doing it. Assumptions I had about the way the human body works were explained to me in depth and I realize now that I was incorrect in many things. Proper nutrition has long been a passion of mine and to finally learn the why’s and hows is very exciting. One thing that stood out was a line on page 21 in the Toxicity and Detoxification Section--”You may have found the journey through parasites and Candida a bit frightening.” Indeed I did. So much so that I was wondering if this was really something I wanted to get into. But reading on convinced me that the way to overcome your fears is to conquer them by education. Finding out how to prevent and treat such maladies is of the utmost importance. I feel not only in control of my own health decisions at this point but am looking forward with enthusiasm to eventually being able to counsel others. This curriculum is comprehensive and engrossing."

"I am loving the student forum: it is a great source of additional information on nearly any topic"

"I am currently enrolled in GCNM’s Master Herbalist program. Prior to the enrollment I was amused by the way many people approach their health problems.  It seemed so obvious to me that a typical endless intake of medications usually does not improve one’s health and so often it does just the opposite!  I was convinced that there was an alternative way to be healthy. I had a strong belief in herbal treatments but a lack of knowledge. Being a health conscious person, I decided to devote my time to studying the healing power of nature. I discovered the Master Herbalist program at the Global College of Natural Medicine, finding it comprehensive and affordable.  I plunged into the text books from the minute I received them and was reassured that I was on the right track. Since English is my second language, I found that the textbooks were written simply and clearly. I also was encouraged to start a personal detoxification program with Colonix which I love.

I am also loving the student forum: it is a great source of additional information on nearly any topic. So far my experience in GCNM is wonderful. As I gain knowledge every day, I feel powerful.  I can’t wait to finish the MH program and start the Nutrition Consultant program in order to be able to incorporate these two programs in one career!"

"I still am amazed that in the scope of things,
there is still so much to learn and I know so little"

"As a child, growing up in the San Bernardino Mountains, I can still remember the smell of breakfast cooking in our small kitchen. My mother is still the best cook I have ever enjoyed, and the things that made her dishes so tasteful were the herbs and spices that she used when putting together a meal.  As I got older, “Mother Earth Magazine” and “Foxfire” series was an important part of my reading. Serving in the United States Marine Corps for 23 years, and a tour in Vietnam increased my “taste” for herbs and spices, not to forget mentioning “Tabasco sauce” on just about every c-ration imaginable.

The short to all of this is that, for what ever reason, herbs have been a part of my life in one form or another. Having lived in the Pacific Rim for some twenty plus years (Japan, Korea, Guam, China) and now residing in Okinawa, Japan, with my Okinawan wife and 15 year old son for the past 13 years (moving from California), I find myself continually surrounded by foods, culture and lifestyles that center largely around natural wellness,  herbs, yoga, Zen, ying & yang. Yet, for most of my life, I never understood or paid close attention to the “power” of herbs and the natural process of wellness, always caught up in the Western approach to medicines and cures.

A friend of mine opened up the Okinawa Wellness Teaching Center last year, here on the island. Recently, he encouraged me to think of the possibility of studying about herbs, since I have a somewhat feeble knowledge of them through experience only. As mom would say, “No book learn’n”.  I have enjoyed my readings, to date, and thought that it is time to formalize the process through my enrolling in the Master Herbalist course.  This path has been exciting and I am very much looking forward to the many topics that will be both learned and shared.

I have been lucky, holding a doctorate in Business Administration, graduate degree in HR, with undergrad work in Psy/Soc. Adding to my character building (USMC, Military Police/Corrections), a graduate of the National FBI Academy and various other certificates in the helping profession.
With that said, I still am amazed that in the scope of things, there is still so much to learn and I know so little. No doubt, I will need lots of help, but look forward to the adventure."

"On the path to better well-being and nutrition"

"My name is Roger and I am a new student of the Nutritional Consultant course. I don’t have any experience in this area. I was turned on to this topic because my wife bought the book by Kevin Trudeau about Natural Cures. I plan on reading it at some point but my wife has told me about the information she has read. While we may not agree with everything, it did open our eyes to information about natural healing and nutrition. My wife has enrolled in the Master Herbalist program. Between the two of us, we have more than enough information to help us on the path to better well-being and nutrition. Our goal is to complete our respective programs and move on to the holistic health practitioner program. Our ultimate goal is to open our own business based on our combined knowledge."

"Becoming a Holistic Health Practitioner
has long been a dream of mine"

"Not knowing much about online schooling, I wanted to be certain I was dealing with a reputable school so I researched every online school I could find. I even called the government Bureau for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education to clarify that GCNM met their rigorous educational requirements. They do. With that in mind and the reasonable cost of the courses, I took the plunge. That was by far the best decision I ever made! The audio cassettes are fun to listen to and the interesting reading material is straight forward and easy to understand. I have already learned a plethora of information in only a few short weeks and I look forward to each and every study material. Becoming a Holistic Health Practitioner has long been a dream of mine. My only regret is that I didn’t take this journey years ago!"

"We have a role and responsibility in our health"

"Donuts for breakfast. Burgers, fries and root beer for lunch. Dinner’s pizza and for snacks, plenty of cookie/ candy bar breaks. That was the typical and very S.A.D. diet of my twenties. My mother did her best with me, starting with one of the best things a mom can do: breastfeeding her children. She cooked in a “Mediterranean” style – lots of onions, garlic and olive oil. (And she is nonstop activity to this day, at 78.) But as soon as I was on my own I was off chasing a dietary rainbow, like M & M’s and frosting. Cakes were my favorite so I took up cake decorating - and I have made hundreds and hundreds of cakes! I am a little embarrassed to say that during this time in my life, I had no idea that food had any connection at all with a person’s state of health. (In her consoling way, a daughter pointed out that neither do many doctors!)

By the end of my twenties, I had four children and had become a single parent. At 30, there were major changes in my life. I married a wonderful man (we’ve had 17 exciting years so far….) and I was beginning to see the light, that health was not a ‘random act’ – striking this one with cancer and blessing that one with a hundred years of good health. It’s not a matter of luck, like the rolling of dice, but we have a role and a responsibility in our health. If we work with our bodies, which are so awesomely made, we can determine much of what our lives will be like 5, 10 and 20 years from now. Through my thirties I had 5 more children (can anyone be more blessed?) and I made changes in my eating as well as read everything I could get a hold of about health. I became a regular guinea pig – the things I tried in the name of health! During my forties, my health ‘fad’ did not pass, unlike many other things in my life. If anything, my interest grew until I believed it was my calling: Find out what was true and what was not, what worked and pass it on to a hurting world. You don’t have to look far to see what I mean. Your family, your friends, how many of them could have a better life, be set free, if they only knew how? So I decided that was what I would do: Learn and share. I am in the learning phase now and am like a kid in a candy shop! (Bad example? Not really, because contrary to what I believed could ever be possible, I have found so many things that are better than candy!)
I have four extra special grandchildren, and another on the way (what did I say about being more blessed?) that I hope to share with someday.

Your story is probably different than mine, but if you recognize the reality of our health as our heritage, that there is a better way than pills, drugs and surgery, and you believe you could make a better future for yourself and those around you, I heartily recommend jumping in. I have not completed the course, but so far have found it to be organized, informational and very interesting. I am very excited about the future and I wish you the best in yours!"

"Before I signed up I checked out GCMN through as many places as I could call and write to. All replies were excellent"

"Hi, everyone. I am aparamedic and I have studied natural medicine, reflexology, acupressure, and massage therapy on my own for approx. 12 yrs. I really became interested in Holistic medicine when my wife who is a nurse was diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) & fibromyalgia (FM). As we visited various doctors I realized none of them had a clue about fibromyalgia. I also realized that
I knew more about these diseases than they did. I have taken time to read and study about FMS and CFS. I know with this training from GCMN I will be able to help my wife and others who suffer. When I stumbled across GCNM a couple of months ago it really excited me, knowing I could get some formal training from a good school.
Before I signed up I checked out GCMN through as many places as I could call and write to.
All replies were excellent."

"The materials and online support have more
than exceeded my expectations"

"Dear GCNM, I just wanted to write and officially thank you for the Nutrional Consultant Certification course. I have been involved in the 'Fitness' world for the last 15 years. Most of what I was taught had to do with the outside of the body and not the inside. I now know there is more to being 'healthy' than just working out. I’ve learned things about detoxification, nutrition, and true health and wellness that have totally altered my and my family's life. The materials and online support have more than exceeded my expectations, and the course covered everything in a clear, concise manner. I can hardly wait to start my business of consulting others who wish to achieve ultimate wellness. Thanks again. Best of Health."

"I am enjoying the program so much!"

"My name is Danielle Kellar and I am enrolled in the Nutritional Consultant program. I just wanted to tell you that I am enjoying the program so much! I am so glad you have this distance learning program so I can juggle all my life responsibilities and find time to further myself and education. Being a recently widowed, now single mom, I did not think I would have ever been able to find time to further my education or career. I have already learned so much in this program. I have been involved with natural health and fitness for most my life and thought there wasn't much left for me to learn. Boy was I wrong!! I really love this course and am so excited to complete it and get started helping people become healthy! Thank you so much.
God Bless!"

"I passed the wellness knowledge and guidance that I learned from my courses at GCNM on to my daughter and she is now happy, healed and healthy. . ."

I completed and graduated from my Nutritional Consultant (NC) course last year. I enjoyed the NC course so much that I decided to further my education and signed up for the Master Herbalist (MH) and Holistic Health Practitioner (HHP) programs. I just sent in my finals for these this week.

Finding this school and taking these courses was one of the best things that I have ever done! The main reason I wanted this education was to help my daughter, who has Crohn's disease, and is now 31. She was very close to dying and conventional medicine was not helping her at all. I just knew there had to be a more natural and humane way to help her body heal. I passed the wellness knowledge and guidance that I learned from my courses at GCNM on to my daughter and she is now happy, healed and healthy, using no chemical treatments or drugs, and has had two beautiful daughters herself.

I want to thank each and every instructor and student for all your wisdom and support. I have learned so much from all of you and have become so much more aware and healthier in body, mind, and spirit along with my family and friends. I have so enjoyed reading the forums and will continue to do so. Again, thank you all for changing my life!

Everything is either an opportunity to grow or an obstacle to keep you from growing. . .you get to choose.
