| Banning Vitamin Sales Worldwide by Wallace G. Heath, Ph.D. [Note: The following article makes clear how seriously close we are to losing our freedom to choose and use nutritional supplements to ensure and improve our health. Please forward it to your own email lists and encourage those you send it to to take part in the steps Dr. Heath outlines below.] Your right to choose your vitamin, mineral and other supplements may end in June of this year (2005). After that U.S. supplements will be defined and controlled by the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the World Health Organization (WHO). The Codex Alimentarius (Food Code) is setting the supplement standards for all countries in the WTO. They will be enforced by the WTO and will override U.S. laws. The U.S. President and Congress agreed to this take-over when the WTO Treaty was signed. Violations are punished by WTO trade sanctions. CODEX drastically restricts vitamins, minerals, herbs and other supplements. CODEX met secretly in November, 2004 and finalized "Step 8 (the final stage)" to begin implementation in June, 2005. The Food Code includes: (1) No supplement can be sold for preventive or therapeutic use. (2) Any potency higher than RDA (minimal strength) is a "drug" requiring a prescription and must be produced by drug companies. Over 5000 safe items now in health stores will be banned, terminating health stores as we now know them. (3) CODEX regulations become binding internationally. (4) New supplements are banned unless given very expensive CODEX testing and approval. CODEX now applies to Norway and Germany, among other countries, where zinc tablets rose from $4 per bottle to $52. Echinacea (an ancient immune-enhancement herb) rose from $14 to $153 (both examples are now allowed by prescription only). They are now "drugs". Vitamin C above 200 mg, niacin above 32 mg, vitamin B6 above 4 mg-all are banned over-the-counter as drugs. No amino acids (arginine, lysine, carnitine, etc. - essential amino acids!), essential fatty acids (omegas 3, 6, 9, etc.), or other essential supplements, such as DMEA, DHEA, CoQ10, MSM, beta-carotene, etc. are allowed. The CODEX rules are not based on real science. They are made by a few people meeting in sec/ret (see web sites below), not necessarily scientists. In 1993, the FDA and drug corporations tried to put all supplements under restriction and prescription. But over 4 million Americans told Congress and the President to protect their freedom of choice on health supplements. The DSHEA Law was passed in 1994, which does so. But this will be over ruled by CODEX and the World Trade Organization. Virtually nothing about it has been in the media. What the drug corporations have failed to do through Congress they have gotten by sneak attack through CODEX with the help of a silent media. What can be done at this late hour? (1) Spread the word as much as possible. Inform yourselves by visiting the following websites:

http://www.alliance-natural-health.org. (2) Oppose bills S.722 and H.R.3377. These support the CODEX restrictions with U.S. laws, changing the DSHEA law. (3) Support H. R.1146 which would restore the sovereignty of the U.S. Constitution over CODEX, etc. (4) Express your wishes to the President, Senators and Representatives (They got us into this!) ASAP. (5) Contact multi-level health marketing groups that can get their members to inform the government. (6) Send donations, however small, to the British Alliance for Natural Health (see web site above). This organization is challenging the CODEX directives in World Court and needs help financially, having carried the fight effectively for everyone. CODEX and the FDA wish to protect us by controlling supplements in the same way they do prescription drugs. A study of the latter by three medical scientists was reported in the Journal of the American Medical Association, April15,1998; Vol. 279, No. 15, p. 1200 "Incidence of Adverse Drug Reactions (ADR's) was found to be extremely high." Covering 30 years (1966 to1996) it was found that in the U.S. an average of 106,000 hospitalized patients per year (290 per day!) die from ADR's and 2,200,000 need more hospitalization for recovery. These were FDA approved drugs, properly administered by competent professionals in hospitals--none were considered malpractice. This is the number four cause of death in the U.S. When combined, these account for 7% of all hospitalized patients. This is equivalent to a 9-11 attack every ten days. There are very few fatalities from supplements or the news would be on every front page. There is no need for more FDA control of supplements than is already in place, which is substantial. Instead of drastically restricting supplements, why doesn't the FDA better control and restrict the extremely dangerous pharmaceutical drugs which are now killing us at the rate of a major airline crash per day? So stop focusing 100% of your attention on the carbohydrate and fat content listed on your food's label and look for grams of sugar. Of course, if you are going to quit something, it must be replaced with a healthy alternative. Unfortunately, this alternative is NOT aspartame, sucralose or neotame, which are often touted as sugar alternatives. The alternative is the stevia plant. Stevia extract effectively replaces sugar by offering a great sweet taste without eliciting ANY negative side effects! In summary, if it tastes sweet to the tongue, and it's not sweetened with stevia, spit it out and you could very likely look and feel 10 years younger without spending a dime. Health Myths Exposed. Holistic Medicine and ADHD Parents seeking treatment for their child with ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) often pursue alternative treatments to those offered by conventional medicine. A study conducted in Australia investigated how many parents with ADHD children did seek some form of alternative to stimulant medication. This study published in the January 2005 issue of the Journal of Paediatric Child Health revealed that over two-thirds of families with an ADHD child sought alternative care. Families of 50 children out of 75 respondents attending the Royal Children's Hospital in Victoria reported using at least one form of alternative treatment for ADHD. Diet modification was the most common form of alternative treatment pursued by these parents (66 percent of those who tried alternatives). Other treatments that parents had tried included vitamins and minerals (32 percent), aromatherapy (24 percent), dietary supplements (24 percent), chiropractic (20 percent), naturopathic therapy (16 percent), herbal therapy (14 percent), and neurofeedback and behavioral optometry (10 percent each). Parents were also asked their goals in seeking alternative treatment, and 89 percent wanted to minimize their child's symptoms. Avoiding side-effects of prescribed medications was rated as important by 67 percent of families. Most importantly, nearly 60 percent of families rated at least one type of alternative treatment helpful for their child. This study shows the frustration and general dissatisfaction among parents with the pharmaceutical approach to children's attention problems. Parents are seeking a holistic approach to these children's problems, and this study shows the perceived benefit that parents experience from these holistic methods of treatment. Sinha D and Efron D.  You Can Make Money Doing What You Love! Growing Your Holistic Business, Part 1 (of a 2-Part Series) By Charlotte Irwin Many of us dedicated to holistic living, at some point in our lives, may consider launching our own holistic business. As in any new business venture, one asks the big question, “Can I really make money doing this?” In this two part article, Charlotte Irwin, a successful holistic business owner (Center for the Healing Arts in Sterling Heights, MI.) is eager to share with you what she has learned about growing a holistic business from the ground up and making it a successful one. This article is her offering... 1. TAKE A PERSONAL INVENTORY. Your first step is to take a step back. How does that sound? A little crazy? Well, yes and no. As you have been busy studying, acquiring the technical skills you need, much time usually isn’t spent on personal inventory. After school, you need another set of skills to set up a business and get clients. We begin by asking questions of ourselves: When I think about starting my own business, does fear come up? Do I think I’m not smart enough or creative enough? None of this is true you know, it’s just old patterns. Know it’s ok to feel this and then reflect on why those thoughts are coming up, what old patterns are attached to it. Then change the CD (your brain) to program in new affirmations about who and what you really are. Ask yourself, ‘What are the things I need to know about myself before I start a business?’ Create positive affirmations, invite old patterns to leave. You can do it! 2. INTEGRATE YOUR PURPOSE WITH YOUR BUSINESS. When I ask most people why they are in business they answer ‘To help people.’ That’s usually what they want to do in the world, not really why they went into business. It’s really okay to make money by helping people. In fact, its pretty great to integrate your calling in life with how you pay the bills, but never deny the fact you need so much money to live on according to the lifestyle you desire. Understanding they are separate will help you establish your rates, what you need to do, good business principles, plus motivation to make the business work. Helping people will help you fulfill your role about doing something purposeful in the world. 3. MANIFEST YOUR BUSINESS (create a dynamic business plan). The universe has to know what is your true desire so it can help you. Be clear and as specific as you can be at this time. You can always change the order as you refine your goals. Know who you are, what your business stands for, how you are going to get there and by what means. Create it as a professional document even if it is not being presented for a loan. This is absolutely necessary to start any business, no matter how big or small, whether you’re working from home, being an independent contractor or renting an office. It’s a great exercise to do, and like a friend told me a long time ago if you don’t want to take the time to do it, you should not be going into business. It will keep things in check and it doesn’t hurt to give the angels a road map. 4. DEVELOP A RELATIONSHIP WITH THE UNIVERSE (secrets of success). You are already one step ahead of the rest of the population by being drawn to the healing field. You probably were drawn to it because of the approach it takes to wholeness. Knowing that, you can begin raising your consciousness even more. Believe everything you do, think, or say, is a means for your spiritual evolution. Even in business, our guardians and angels are helping us. All you have to do is heighten your awareness. Believe every person you meet is an opportunity to learn something about yourself and your business. The messages come in different ways. A phone call, a book, a happy client as well as an angry client, a project that succeeded or failed. It’s an incredible learning opportunity to rediscover parts of yourself and be amazed at how you can improve in all aspects of your life. Use all the information given to you—it’s business school to the Max! 5. KNOW THE 3 “P’S” OF PERSONAL POWER (purpose, passion, perseverance). To use purpose, passion and perseverance together adds up to personal power. Purpose: - Gives meaning to your life - Unifies your beliefs and values - Gives passion a way to manifest your higher self - Gives perseverance to your passions - Focuses your resources - Becomes the organizing principle in your life - Gives you and your life power! THE AMERICAN GROCERY SHOPPER: Building a Healthy Future for Our Families by Jane Fredette We have a phenomenal influence over our children today more than ever before. As adults, the realization of this may not surface until we start teaching our offspring what is best for them. For one, we can give them the right tools to work with and that includes choosing the proper foods needed to get them through life. In doing so, we will create healthy-minded adults capable of making positive decisions including the foods they eat. Studies are beginning to show a direct connection between the foods our children consume and such things as hyperactivity. Proper nutrition education, I believe, can lessen the incidence of hyperactivity (and even aggressive behavior in children). With proper diet, they can be more present and productive in the classroom and in our homes. Fast food and chemically-laden foods seem to dominate our food choices these days. When children are small we make sure they play sports, dance, use proper manners and use proper hygiene. An education in nutrition is missing in America that goes beyond the four food groups. It is getting back to the basics of natural foods, which are so beautifully put here on earth for us, that we can and should share with our children. I recently visited the home of a hyperactive child and asked the parents if they would be so kind as to let me look in their cupboards. It did not surprise me to see sugar and boxed foods everywhere. Pop, juice, Popsicles, chips, candy, macaroni and cheese (in the box), cereal (in the box), pudding cups, cookies, and some old moldy fruit and vegetables. Yes, these foods are convenient and, yes, kids may even beg for them, but they are not foods that build health, nor are they nutritious. Marketing robs us of being creative in the kitchen. By creative I mean even something as simple as a chicken dinner with a fresh green salad (other than iceberg lettuce, which has no nutritional value at all), and some raw or slightly cooked veggies and fruit for dessert. Cooking healthfully doesn¹t have to be wildly creative - just reflect common sense. Who is buying the groceries? If you are your family¹s grocery shopper, you are the one who will influence the future of your family¹s health and well-being. Of course, we all fall off the track (as seen in the family above) - it is only human nature - but the education of what to come back to would be there if we took measures early on to learn what is good for us and our bodies. Is it that we trust the industry too much to take care of our nutritional needs, or that we are too lazy to look beyond boxed and canned food and fast food restaurants? Please feed your family the way they deserve to be fed. Physicians are wonderful when needed, but we can head off future disease by eating more of the good foods. You cannot tell the health of a human being from a simple physical. The disease process does not happen over night. It takes time to manifest and become visible. We have to take care of the invisible by insuring the best nutrients for our families and ourselves. Now. Contact your local nutritionist for an evaluation. It is not expensive, only very informative and educational. Abraham Lincoln said, ³If a man wants to empty his purse into his head, so be it! An investment in education always pays the best interest.² Why not an education in nutrition? As a country we deserve better. begin. Well let’s start with weight loss. I've lost a good ten pounds in
the last 45 days.
It all started with having to go to the bathroom a little more than
three times a day. I went up to five times a day for part of my

New The American Naturopathic Medical Certification Board will provide Certification to GCNM and GIFAM graduates. Certification is available for students who have completed either the Holistic Health Practitioner Program, or Master Herbalist Program, and passage of final exam. Graduates may be American Board Certified as a Holistic Health Practitioner or Master Herbalist by completing the application process and submission of official transcripts. Fitness Asylum is looking for a certified nutritionist to
provide nutritional counseling to our members. We are located in a
63,000 square foot Gym and Sports Complex in the Los Angeles
area. We provide the training and we need nutritionist to provide
programs and counseling. The facility has over 7,000 members and in
the next two years will reach 11,000 members. We have all rights to
training and nutrition in the facility and are looking to expand the
